Maybe I Don’t Want to Know: When Birth Feels Too Big to Look At — and Why That’s Okay (But Not the End)

There’s a quiet, creeping fear that hits a lot of people in pregnancy:
If I really look at birth… what will I see? And once I know — what if I can’t un-know it?
It’s easy to think the best way to protect yourself is to stay chill. To not go down the rabbit hole. To just… go with the flow and “see what happens.” And if that’s where you’re at — I get it. I really do.

Why “Ignorance Is Bliss” Can Feel Like a Safe Plan
Because birth is big. It’s intimate. Physical. Emotional. Messy. And you already feel like everything’s changing — so why add more by learning things that might overwhelm you?
You want to stay calm. You want to feel peace. And you’re scared that the more you learn, the more fear you’ll have to hold.
That makes sense.
But Here’s What Most People Don’t Tell You
Not knowing doesn’t protect you from what might happen. It just makes it harder to understand it when it does.
And the truth is, when things don’t go as planned — when there’s a new voice in the room, a new sound on the monitor, or a new path to follow — people who stay blissfully out of the loop often feel blindsided.
It’s not about knowing everything. It’s about knowing enough to stay connected to yourself when things shift.
What If You Could Learn Without Losing That Calm?
That’s the middle ground. That’s where I live. That’s where you get to stay powerful — without needing to be a birth expert. What I teach (and how I support) isn’t about prepping for disaster. It’s about helping you stay in the moment, not outside of it.
